664 million people do not have access to safe water. This means that one in ten people around the world cannot drink clean water. For children under the age of 5, 20% of their deaths are caused by water-related illnesses. Investing in clean water solutions worldwide can be the bottom rung on the ladder out of poverty. Healthy people can work more, and more children can attend school. Their increased productivity and education leads to greater incomes and stronger, safer communities. According to the World Health Organization, for every $1 invested in water and sanitation, there is an economic return of between $3 and $34.

Each product from Hand in Hand Soap's Clean Water Collection provides one bar of soap and a month of clean water to communities in Haiti. Hand in Hand Soap was started by two social entrepreneurs who believe that business can do so much more than just make money. "The goal was to come up with a household product people use every day, that had the power to save lives. We came across an article reporting that each year over 5 million people die of diseases caused by poor water quality and lack of proper hygiene. After further research, we discovered that those deaths could be prevented by handwashing and clean water. It was at that moment that Hand in Hand was conceived."
